A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough to resemble mummies, served with a homemade spicy mustard dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 810 standard beef or pork hot dogs
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 tablespoons water
  • Dijon mustard
  • Hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • Melted butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat hot dogs dry and prick them all over with a fork to prevent bursting.
  3. Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles.
  4. Place a hot dog at the wide end of a dough triangle and roll it up, leaving a small gap at the top for the ‘head’.
  5. Wrap the leftover dough tip around the hot dog to create ‘bandages’, leaving some hot dog visible.
  6. Whisk egg with water to create an egg wash and brush over the mummies.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  8. Cool for 2 minutes and serve immediately with spicy mustard dip.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Do not overcrowd the pan. Prick hot dogs to prevent bursting. Serve warm for best texture. Can be frozen unbaked for up to 3 months.
