A quick and easy party snack featuring little smokies wrapped in bacon and glazed with a sweet, sticky BBQ sauce for a crispy finish. Perfect for gatherings and casual nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) little smokies (pre-cooked cocktail sausages)
  • 12 slices thin-cut bacon
  • ½ cup (120ml) BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top if available.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, honey, mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using until smooth and slightly thickened.
  3. Cut each bacon slice in half crosswise. Wrap each little smokie with a half slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  4. Place the bacon-wrapped smokies seam-side down on the wire rack or directly on the foil-lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes until bacon starts to crisp and aroma develops.
  6. Remove from oven and brush generously with the glaze.
  7. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, brushing more glaze halfway through baking for extra stickiness.
  8. Let the smokies rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the glaze to set.

Notes

Use a wire rack for crispier bacon. If bacon browns too fast, tent with foil. Let glaze rest to set properly. Oven temperatures vary, so watch closely near the end. For gluten-free, use gluten-free BBQ sauce and check bacon ingredients. For vegan/vegetarian, substitute sausages and bacon accordingly.
