These easy witch finger pretzels are the perfect Halloween snack—salty, sweet, crunchy, and delightfully creepy. Made with pretzel rods, green candy melts, and almond slivers, they come together in about 20 minutes and are guaranteed to be the star of any spooky spread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 pretzel rods (about 12 ounces)
  • 12 ounces green candy melts (about 2 cups)
  • 24 almond slivers (whole, not sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, to thin candy melts)
  • Red food coloring gel (just a drop, for decoration)
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat (for setting)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Lay out almond slivers on a small plate for easy access.
  2. Place green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth (about 1 to 1.5 minutes total). If too thick, stir in a tiny bit of coconut oil.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip about two-thirds into the melted green candy. Gently tap on the bowl to let excess drip off.
  4. Immediately place an almond sliver on the coated tip, pointed end extending past the pretzel. Press gently to adhere. If it doesn’t stick, dip the almond in melted candy first.
  5. While the candy is still wet, use a toothpick to draw 2-3 small lines across the coated section to create knuckles. Make them slightly uneven for a natural look.
  6. Place each finished pretzel on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch. Gently nudge any shifted almond nails back into place.
  7. Refrigerate the baking sheet for 10-15 minutes, or until the candy coating is completely firm.
  8. Once set, dip a toothpick in red food coloring gel and add small red lines at the base of the almond nail (cuticle area) and a tiny drop at the tip for a bloody effect.
  9. Let the red coloring dry for a few minutes at room temperature, or refrigerate for 2-3 minutes if in a hurry.

Notes

Don’t overheat candy melts—they can become thick and gloppy. Work in small batches to keep the candy from cooling too much. Use disposable gloves to avoid staining from green candy melts. Make knuckle lines slightly uneven for a more authentic look. These can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. For freezing, place in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
