  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 cups (480 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vodka
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Blue Curacao
  • 1 package (3 oz or ~85 grams) red jello mix (strawberry or cherry)
  • 1 package (3 oz or ~85 grams) blue jello mix (berry blue or similar)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Jello Layer: In a medium bowl, dissolve 1 package of red jello mix and 1/2 cup (100 grams) of sugar in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water and 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka. Mix well.
  2. Pour the Red Layer: Carefully pour the red mixture into your shot glasses or molds, filling each about halfway. Refrigerate for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until firm but slightly tacky to the touch.
  3. Prepare the Blue Jello Layer: While the red layer chills, dissolve 1 package of blue jello mix and 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well for about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water, 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka, and 1/4 cup (60 ml) Blue Curacao. Stir to combine.
  4. Layer the Blue Jello: Once the red layer is ready, slowly pour the blue jello mixture over the back of a spoon held just above the red layer to prevent mixing. Refrigerate for another 1-2 hours until fully set.
  5. Serve or Store: Pop the shots out of molds or serve directly in shot glasses. Keep refrigerated until serving time.

Notes

Do not rush chilling steps to keep layers crisp and visually distinct. Pour the second layer slowly over the back of a spoon to prevent mixing. Use fresh lemon juice for extra zing. For gluten-free, verify gelatin and liquor brands. Store refrigerated up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
