An easy and elegant appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with creamy goat cheese, fresh figs, and a sweet honey drizzle. Perfect for last-minute gatherings and crowd-pleasing occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small baguette, sliced into 1/4-inch thick rounds
  • 810 ripe fresh figs, sliced (or dried figs rehydrated in warm water)
  • 6 ounces creamy goat cheese, softened
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons good-quality honey
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) rounds, keeping slices uniform. Let fresh bread sit out to dry slightly if needed.
  3. Lightly brush both sides of each baguette slice with olive oil. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Arrange the slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  5. While toasting, soften the goat cheese in a small bowl and gently fold in thyme if using.
  6. Spread a generous dollop of goat cheese on each toasted baguette slice. Top with one or two slices of fresh fig.
  7. Drizzle honey over each crostini generously.
  8. Sprinkle a little flaky sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the top before serving.

Notes

Toast bread just before assembling to prevent sogginess. Use ripe figs for best flavor and texture. Add honey drizzle last to keep crostini crisp. Can substitute goat cheese with ricotta or cream cheese for milder flavor, or vegan cheese and maple syrup for a vegan version. Gluten-free baguette can be used for gluten-free diet.
