A quick and easy baked salmon recipe featuring a sticky honey garlic glaze and a bright lemon dill butter sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil an ovenproof dish.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes until fully combined and glossy.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush each fillet lightly with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper.
  4. Coat each salmon fillet evenly with the honey garlic glaze using a pastry brush or spoon. Reserve a little glaze for basting later.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, checking at 12 minutes for flakiness and moisture. Optionally broil for the last 2 minutes for more caramelization.
  6. While the salmon bakes, mash together softened butter, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and chopped dill in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove salmon from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Spoon the lemon dill butter sauce over each fillet before serving.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before glazing for a sticky, caramelized crust. Use room temperature butter for the sauce to blend well. Avoid overbaking to keep salmon moist. Fresh minced garlic is preferred over powdered. Broil carefully for extra caramelization. For dairy-free, substitute butter with vegan margarine or olive oil.
