Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean turkey breast preferred)
  • 8 small whole-grain slider buns
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (60 ml)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 46 leaves leafy lettuce, washed and dried
  • Avocado slices (optional)
  • 2 tbsp light mayonnaise or aioli (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground turkey, diced red onion, minced garlic, Greek yogurt, chopped parsley, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  2. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Roll each into a ball and flatten into 2.5-inch patties. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large non-stick skillet or grill pan until hot but not smoking.
  4. Place patties in the pan without overcrowding. Cook for about 4 minutes on the first side until browned and easy to flip. Flip and cook another 3-4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. While patties cook, slice cucumber, tomato, and avocado. Lightly toast the slider buns in a separate pan or toaster.
  6. Spread a thin layer of light mayonnaise or aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce leaf, turkey patty, cucumber and tomato slices, and avocado if using. Top with the bun top.
  7. Serve immediately while warm and juicy.

Notes

Do not overmix the patty ingredients to keep them tender. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing. Use a meat thermometer to ensure patties reach 165°F (74°C). Toast buns lightly to avoid sogginess. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Let patties rest for 2 minutes before serving. For extra moisture, add grated zucchini or a beaten egg to the mix.
